Gdańsk officials are going back to the old idea of converting Słowackiego street into a national road. Owing to that move, there would be a chance to procure money from the European Union for building the second driveway, they say.
Local drivers have been waiting for the redevelopment of Słowackiego street for years. So far, one section has been done, namely from the motorway to the crossroads with Potokowa street at the Niedźwiednik district. The other section, from the crossroads with Potokowa to al. A block of tenement houses will be built not far from St. John's church in Gdańsk soon. The project is of an unprecedented scale and has been preceded by an ongoing discussion on the appearance of the new part of the old Gdańsk. The new buildings will reflect the historic character of the Main Town but their architecture will be very modern.
