The next project under the Joint Creation of the City will be the construction of a roundabout at the Optima housing estate in Gdańsk - our comprehensive investment, which is scheduled for completion in autumn 2025. The new roundabout will replace the current junction of Stężycka, Jasińskiego and Połczyńska streets, which will significantly improve traffic flow and reduce the risk of traffic jams.
The modernisation project includes the redevelopment of the existing crossroads and the construction of a new roundabout, complete with vertical and horizontal signage and traffic-calming features. For pedestrians, comfortable crosswalks will be added to ensure safe and easy movement. A dedicated pull-in bay will also be created for public transport vehicles. We will also enhance the appearance of the area by restoring green spaces and planting new lawns. The scope of work includes site drainage, the installation of new street lighting, and the construction of a rainwater drainage system, including necessary connections.
The road surface will be made of a mineral-asphalt mix, the central roundabout island will be paved with stone blocks, and the foot pavements will be built using concrete slabs. As part of the project, approximatel 190 meters of roadway (6 meters wide) and 220 meters of foot pavements (2 meters wide) will be built.
